There is something about spending time in the outdoors that brings a twinkle to the eye and rejuvenates you to your very soul. It could be that when we are out amongst nature we are actually in a place that beats with life, each plant, tree, flower, bug is also pulsating with an energy that we can’t help pick up on.

Of course, the romance of it all deserves a sonnet or two or millions, but there are also some very practical reasons for getting a little one-to-time with nature. Here’s our breakdown of the top 5 reasons you need to spend more time outdoors for your body, health and soul.

Injection of Vitamin D

You need a healthy dose of Vitamin D to keep your bones and teeth strong as well as to ensure your immune system is servicing you in the best condition possible. And one of the best ways you can obtain a natural source of vitamin D is via the sun. Remember, of course, to slather on some sun protection because the sun’s power are immense.

Mood Boost

A simple walk outdoors can do wonders for your mood, and being exposed to the sun does have something to do with it, but it is also simply from being exposed to the air. Your body’s feel good receptor is serotonin and low levels of serotonin are directly linked to cancer. Being outdoors and exposed to the sun sends messages to your body to produce serotonin, and voila – you are happier.

Creativity Boost

A recent study looking into the effects of nature on creativity discovered that people that spent time in the outdoors before taking tests that required creativity did 50 percent better than those who hadn’t. These outdoorsy test-takers appeared to have improved problem-solving skills in addition to the creative boost –with a strong link between those two activities.

Escape from Techno-jail

People in modern society are far too stimulated for their own good. Getting away from the Smartphone, the tablet, the computer, the television, the Playstation and all of the related connectivity apps will give you such an amazing wash of relief you might just build a house out in the woods and start farming.

Because we are plugged in all day, everyday – yes God/Higher power/Mother Nature/Consciousness even on Sunday – we don’t ever have a time to recharge. However getting yourself out in nature gives you that battery boost you need to get back on the horse the next day and charge back into the land of instagram, snapchat, twitter, facebook, email, messaging, smiley-winky faces with a brand new vigor. This vigor you may however want to hold onto for the important stuff like becoming the best person you can be – alternatively you can make a witty declaration about it on snapchat, facebook, twitter…

Go outside and move that sexy body of yours

The chances are that if you’re spending more time outside, you are also being more active. Sure, it is possible to drink Margueritas on your front lawn and call it a day, but eventually that will get old or you will get old.

And so to get to the unmanicured outdoors you may have to take a walk, heck it could even be a hike. Once you get there, you might be famished and have a picnic – and there is a great possibility that the said picnic could lead to all sorts of hi-jinks. You may find yourself embroiled in a game of Frisbee, hide’n-go-seek-tag or maybe just some old-fashioned cart-wheeling for happiness.

The point is, just simply being outside away from the concrete and techno-connections will inspire you to move that body of yours in all sorts of interesting ways – and we know that, that which is not used will usually wither away – use that for inspiration!

Regardless of how long or how short of the o’clock you’ve got. Steal a little green time for yourself and you’ll be a better person for it – absolutely guaranteed, signed Mother Nature.
